FAPs are mainly used by French companies - Citroen, Peugeot, Renault and also Nissan. The operation of wet filters requires the use of a catalytic fluid. This fuel additive neutralises soot at lower temperatures than DFP. As a result, the filter burns out and turns the soot into ash.

Regeneration with wet filters is called active regeneration. It is initiated by the engine control unit which detects the degree of filter filling. In the FAP system, it is necessary to use properly developed fuel additives, which are dosed using a computer. Clogged filters require cleaning and, over time, replacement with new ones.
