About catalytic converters

The car catalyst, or catalytic converter, is a part of the exhaust system, the main task of which is to reduce exhaust emissions to the environment. Currently, due to stringent pollution standards, catalytic converters are installed in all types of motor vehicles, from forklifts to trucks. There are palladium catalytic converters, as well as mixed catalytic converters. It is possible to analyse the waste in terms of composition - both individual pieces and entire batches.

By 'catalytic converter' we mean the insert itself that is installed in our car. The device, as its name suggests, catalyses a chemical reaction, but is not involved in it. The noble metals which cover a catalytic converter's interior - platinum, palladium and rhodium - are responsible for its operation. These compounds neutralise substances contained in exhaust gases, thus reducing their toxicity.

Ceramic catalytic converters

We divide catalytic converters into three types, ceramic, metal and the FAP/DPF. Ceramic catalytic converters are cheaper, which makes them more popular. However, they are not as durable as metal catalytic converter or. The ceramic block used in this type of catalytic converters heats up slower, which makes it less efficient in cleaning exhaust gases. Additionally, this type of catalytic converters is less resistant to temperature.

On the other hand, the use of ceramic catalytic converters translates into quieter engine operation. Apart from that, in some models of modern cars, in which engines use two Lambda sensor, the use of a metal catalytic converter may cause an error in the work of the sensor placed behind the catalytic converter.

Metal catalytic converters

Metal catalytic converters are superior to ceramic catalytic converters in terms of quicker heating to the temperature necessary for the combustion of toxic substances from the exhaust pipe. The metal used in the creation of this type of catalytic converters - an alloy of heat-resistant chromium-plated steel and aluminium - is also more durable than ceramic inserts.

What does a catalytic converter look like?

Catalytic converters are designed to reduce the emission of environmentally harmful exhaust gases. These devices, due to the harsh working conditions - the risk of impacts, moisture and large temperature changes are often irreparably damaged. As a result, the car works with less power, has problems with acceleration or does not start the engine at all.

The solution is to remove the damaged car catalytic converter and hand it over to our purchasing centre, where we buy ceramic catalytic converters, metal catalytic converters and DPFs directly at prices which are favourable for our customers.

Our company has been on the market since 2008. We employ qualified specialists, who have at their disposal a modern laboratory equipped with the latest generation of devices. Catalyst Recycling also has all necessary permits and approvals required for this kind of enterprise.

Purchase of catalytic converters

Do you want to get rid of a catalytic converter or a DPF? Feel free to visit us! Our company deals with the purchase and recycling of automotive metal and ceramic catalytic converters and DPFs of brands such as Volvo, Volkswagen, Opel, Honda, Mercedes, Peugeot. and many more! We buy both wholesale and retail, and we are able to offer our customers one of the best prices on the market.

The pricing of catalytic converters and filters depends on several different factors. First of all, we check devices for precious metals, platinum, rhodium and palladium - of course, the higher the content of these elements, the better. Secondly, we set the price on the basis of the current exchange rate and the current value of the listed elements on the precious metal exchange.
