What is a monolith

A ceramic monolith is a block of material contained in a catalytic converter housing. It is this part that contains the precious metals that we recover. The platinum monolith is more valuable than the palladium monolith, but there are also mixed catalytic converters. It is possible to analyse the waste in terms of composition - both individual pieces and entire batches.

To assess the content of unevenly distributed metals in the monolith, it is necessary to crush it in a ball mill. Crushing of a single monolithic block is not a time consuming operation, nevertheless in the case of a larger number of capacitors delivered to us we recommend to arrange the details in advance by phone or via the form.

Ceramic capacitors consist of one or more ceramic plates, and the indispensable elements of their construction are metal electrodes. They are connected to the capacitors via special leads. Ceramic materials used in production have various properties in terms of electric permeability.

As for the relationship between a monolithic and a ceramic capacitor, one can distinguish single-layer and multi-layer capacitors taking into account the number of dielectric layers. The latter are otherwise called monolithic and are simply several devices connected to each other and contained in one housing.
